By clue 4, Dave's mount finished either 2nd or 4th. If Dave's filly had
placed 4th, Smiley's mount would have been 3rd (clue 4). Since Smiley
didn't ride Princess Pru (4), by clue 7, Princess Pru would have won the
Distaff Derby, with Landry's mount 2nd. By clue 1, Mosley would have been
Princess Pru's jockey. By clue 1, then, Sean's mount and Laddie's Lass
would have finished 2nd and 3rd or vice versa. In either case, since Chad
didn't ride Laddie's Lass (6), Chad would have had to have been on winner
Princess Pru--no (6). So, Dave's mount didn't place 4th and placed 2nd.
Smiley is the winning jockey (4). By clues 4 and 7, Princess Pru either
finished 2nd (ridden by Dave) or 3rd. If Princess Pru had been Dave's filly,
Landry would have been the 3rd-place jockey (7). Dave would be Mosley (1),
and Early would have been on the 4th-place finisher. By clues 2 and 6,
Chad would be Landry. Sean would be Smiley (1). In clue 1, then, Laddie's
Lass would have been Chad's mount--no (6). So, Princess Pru in clue 7 ended
up in 3rd place with Landry's mount 4th. Since Sean didn't ride Princess
Pru (7), by clue 1, he is Smiley. Again by clue 1, Laddie's Lass placed 2nd
in the Derby, with Mosley then Princess Pru's rider. By elimination, Dave
is Early. D-D-Dinah finished 4th (3), with Mudder-In-Law winner of the
Distaff Derby. Finally, by clue 5, Ben is Landry and Chad Mosley. In sum,
the first four finishers in last weekend's Distaff Derby were
- 1st - Mudder-in-Law, ridden by Sean Smiley
- 2nd - Laddie's Lass, ridden by Dave Early
- 3rd - Princess Pru, ridden by Chad Mosley
- 4th - D-D-Dinah, ridden by Ben Landry
