By clue 2, Rose and Roger Rambler sent postcards on consecutive days of the
Eiffel Tower, to the Mitchells, and to the Rutherfords; and by clue 5, they
sent postcards on consecutive days of the Arc de Triomphe, to the Furleys,
and of the Louvre. The only possible overlaps between the clues would have
the Rutherfords receiving the Arc de Triomphe postcard--no (7)--or the Furleys
receiving the postcard of the Eiffel Tower and the Mitchells getting the the
Louvre postcard--no (1). So, all six days of sight-seeing and postcards are
given between clues 2 and 5. If the three in clue 5 were on Monday-Wednesday
and those in clue 2 Thursday-Saturday, the order would be the postcard of the
Arc de Triomphe, the one to the Furleys, the postcard from the Louvre, the
shot of the Eiffel Tower, the postcard to the Mitchells, and the card to
the Rutherfords. By clues 1 and 9, then, the Ramblers would have mailed
the Wilsons a postcard on Monday from the Arc de Triomphe and would have sent
postcards on Wednesday and Thursday, or vice versa, to the Handelmans and
the Bradfords. However, the latter two recipients did not receive cards
sent on consecutive days (6). Therefore, Rose and Roger sent a postcard of
the Eiffel Tower on Monday, to the Mitchells on Tuesday, to the Rutherfords
on Wednesday (2), of the Arc de Triomphe on Thursday, to the Furleys on
Friday, and from the Louvre on Saturday. The postcard of Notre Dame wasn't
mailed Wednesday (4) or to the Furleys (8) on Friday, so it went to
the Mitchells on Tuesday. By clue 3, the Ramblers didn't send the
Musee d'Orsay postcard on Friday; they mailed it on Wednesday and on Friday
sent a postcard of Sacre Coeur to the Furleys. Neither the Handelmans nor
the Wilsons (9) got Thursday's postcard, so the Bradfords did.
By clue 1, the Wilsons got Monday's postcard from the Eiffel Tower, while
the Handelmans got the Louvre postcard mailed Saturday. Rose and Roger
Rambler sent their Paris postcards in order
- Mon. - Eiffel Tower to the Wilsons
- Tue. - Notre Dame to the Mitchells
- Wed. - Musee d'Orsay to the Rutherfords
- Thu. - Arc de Triomphe to the Bradfords
- Fri. - Sacre Coeur to the Furleys
- Sat. - the Louvre to the Handelmans
